State-run telecommunications company Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has unveiled its ‘Starter Pack’ over-the-top (OTT) service in collaboration with Lionsgate, ShamarooMe, Hungama, and EpicOn. This move aims to enhance customer loyalty while preparing for the launch of its fast 4G network across the country.
Furthermore, BSNL has introduced an upgraded version of its MyBSNL mobile app, offering zero-touch service delivery to its customers. Additionally, the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the government of Himachal Pradesh to accelerate the deployment of BSNL fiber broadband in the state.
Vivek Banzal, Director CFA of the BSNL Board, emphasized the significance of this innovative combination of high-value OTT services and competitive pricing. BSNL aims to utilize its extensive network infrastructure and nationwide presence to make affordable OTT entertainment accessible to every household. This initiative will enable users to stream their favorite shows, movies, music, and more. Banzal added that these synergies will create a comprehensive and cost-effective viewing ecosystem to meet the increasing demand for online content consumption in India.
BSNL’s fiber network has already reached more than 30,000 Gram Panchayats, attracting over 300,000 customers in the past six months. PK Purwar, BSNL CMD, highlighted the company’s commitment to digital initiatives not only in urban areas but also in rural regions, where technology plays a vital role in improving quality of life through online education and telemedicine. BSNL’s paperless customer onboarding and Know Your Customer (KYC) processes have significantly benefited the company and its Udyami partners.
In collaboration with the government of Himachal Pradesh, BSNL plans to leverage the skilled workforce available at technical institutions in the state to expedite the rollout of BSNL fiber. This partnership aims to accelerate the deployment process and provide improved broadband connectivity to the people of Himachal Pradesh.
